Grow & glow

I received this topic last year but was lacking in content...until now...when I found this quote:

You have to do your own growing no matter how tall your grandfather was.

~Abraham Lincoln

Isn't this so true? Indeed, in any and every area of life - physically, financially, emotionally, spiritually, socially, psychologically and all the other "-llys" - no one can grow for you. People may and can support, encourage or even provide you the nutrients or you may locate the nutrients yourself...but you still need to do your own growing.

We must all must realize that like Douglas Horton said: Growing old is not growing up. You may even know some people who have grown old without growing up...in some or even all areas of life. It is a sad thing to see and even worse, a sad place to be...it doesn't need to be so. Growing up is a decision you make for yourself. Irrespective of everyone's best wishes for you, that's what they'll remain - wishes. It takes you acting in your best interest to make it a reality for yourself. You grow up for yourself - and others benefit from your growth...

Glowing is another kettle of fish...

It sure is great to grow for your own sake...and even better to glow. Proverbs 4:18 - 19 says:
"The ways of right-living people glow with light; the longer they live, the brighter they shine. But the road of wrongdoing gets darker and darker - travelers can't see a thing; they fall flat on their faces." (The Message)
There is definitely great benefit in growing up, growing older and glowing as we grow.
"Men and women who have lived wisely and well will shine brilliantly, like the cloudless, star-strewn night skies. And those who put others on the right path to life will glow like stars forever."  (Dan 12:3 - The Message)
When we "grow in grace (undeserved favor, spiritual strength) and recognition and knowledge and understanding of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (the Messiah),"* we'll definitely "go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night."**
Let's go into all the world...growing and glowing.
