R & R

Return & Rest...I won't be surprised if that's where the term "Rest & Recreation" was culled from. Of course everything - principles and practices - have their origin from the Bible.

God exemplified this principle - He rested on the 7th day and He continues to remind us in different sections of the Bible.

Let's start with Isaiah 30:15 "For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: In returning [to Me] and resting [in Me] you shall be saved; in quietness and in [trusting] confidence shall be your strength. But you would not, (Amplified Bible)
10 chapters later, He promises: "But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired." (Isaiah 40: 31; Amplified Bible)

R&R can mean different things to us...maybe you just need to Relax, Rest or even go as far as going for a Retreat in order to be Refreshed, Renewed, Revitalised. The best part is that:  depending on what you need it's freely available - you don't need to go to the Spa, though that can be helpful. We just need to "turn off" the noise and "tune into" God's frequency.

Now that can be tough with all that we need to attend to...but easy when we realise that without rest, we cannot do or be our best.
When God was talking to Job, He asked him a few questions that give us some insight into how and what God expects us to do - as the eagle does:

Does the eagle mount up at your command and make his nest on high [inaccessible place]? On the cliff he dwells and remains securely, upon the point of the rock and the stronghold. From there he spies out the prey; and his eyes see it afar off. (Job 39:27-29; Amplified Bible)

We need to learn to cultivate and live in God's "rest-ful" presence - living and having our being in God makes us "inaccessible" - now that doesn't mean that "predators" will not try to get us. It just means that we are safe under the shadow of His wing and that also has it's own benefit - we can see as God sees.

Of course, the higher you are, the more you can see; and when it is time to go...we go even farther in pursuit of God's purpose for our lives with passion. Let's strive to wait on the Lord...it will make all the difference in our lives!

R&R is a good resolution for life not just the coming year...
