Ready to step up?

I hope your answer to this question is a resounding
"Yes."

Guess what? That's my answer too.

As each year wraps up, most of us look back on the year to assess if and how we accomplished our various goals and begin to plan for the new year. One thing that I always plan into my new year is a new level - actually a new higher and better level.

The more I think about it, the more obvious it is that I need to do more than think about it. Yes, I need to actually do more. When you correlate stepping up to the next level to moving up in Grade school, it's obvious that what got you to where you are won't take you to where you need to get to. We need to be deliberate about the steps we take...in order to step up.

Last year, Beryl talked about aprons and bibs.* Which one did you "wear" during the past year? One thing we learn from Jesus our Example is that for Him to step up - and obtain a Name above all other names, He had to first step down** and do all His Father asked him to.

Stepping down may seem stupid to some but not when you're doing it in obedience to God.  If you have to make only one resolution for 2016, resolve to take 1 single step - step down & serve.
