Beyond 1 day...

Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada. It is always interesting to watch how people and places - stores and restaurants - all get geared up for this day. Meals and meetings are all planned just to celebrate "Thanksgiving." I only but wonder how much thanks is actually given in all the celebration.

Robert Caspar Linter rightly said: "Thanksgiving was never meant to be shut up in a single day."

With that as our launching pad, I'll share some other Thanksgiving quotes that resonate with me:

Saying thank you is more than good manners. It is good spirituality. ~Alfred Painter Well, we say that "please" and "thank you" open doors.* Ask the Samaritan leper in Luke 15: 17-19, taking the time to say "thank you" opened the door to wellness and wholeness for him. This is one reason the next quote is one of my favourite:

If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "thank you," that would suffice. ~Meister Eckhart

Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving.
~ WT Purkiser
Silent gratitude isn't much use to anyone. ~G.B. Stern

There is no such thing as gratitude unexpressed. If it is unexpressed, it is plain, old-fashioned ingratitude.

~Robert Brault, www.robertbrault.com

Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
~ Melody Beattie
Gratitude consists of being more aware of what you have, than what you don’t. ~ Author Unknown

We must realize that whether we believe it our not, "your attitude, not your aptitude, determines your altitude"**, and:
Gratitude is the best attitude. ~Author Unknown

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy

I tried just can't end this without adding that as Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye said which I agree with:
"Whoever is not grateful, is a great fool."

Think about it, there is no way you can fit or even recount all your blessings in one day - in fact, each day is a blessing. Your thanksgiving must go beyond 1 day and be the way you live everyday.

Lord, I thank you for all of us You have given the opportunity to read this - we're only able to read this because we're alive - and have the faculties and facilities to - not just because we're literate. Please help each of us to live a life of thanksgiving - one that glorifies You in all we do and say.
In Jesus Name we pray. Amen!

One more thing: Happy Thanksgiving Day and life...
