...thinking about (& preparing for) overcoming obstacles/challenges this year, I have a question for you: What or who is your first port of call when you are faced with a challenge or endued with a blessing?
Let's take them one at a time...
When faced with a challenge or problem or even an outright battle - as we all are from time to time, are you quick to stay on your own - possibly to throw a pity party, pick up the phone to invite others to the pity party or get someone to pray for/with you or just go to the Throne of God to obtain grace that's always available to help - all of us - in those times of need? What if it's a blessing - do you stay on your own, get on the phone, or go to the Throne?
Have you ever had a situation where you tried calling someone and couldn't reach them? You don't want that happening in an emergency...or at any time at all but it can and does happen. Knowing that:
- when you have challenges, neither you nor any other man can take care of you is enough reason to make the Throne you first port of call. Not even a king can help you - as we see 2 Kings 6:26-27: "One day as the king of Israel was walking along the wall of the city, a woman called to him, “Please help me, my lord the king!” He answered, “If the Lord doesn’t help you, what can I do?" (NLT)
- every good and perfect gift comes from God...and He expects us to express our appreciation to Him. As we well know - in my words: "blessed are the thankful for they shall receive more." God forbid that you stop God from blessing you because of your lack of gratitude or because you (and/or others) want to share His glory...we know what happened (and/or happens) to those who did (and/or do).
"My first port of call will be the Throne of grace."
