A few weeks ago I saw something that shocked me - and very few things shock me.
I was passing by a store and noticed that they were advertising a "Compensating Cream" in their window. I'm not really into creams so it wasn't the fact that they were advertising the cream that shocked me it was the context. Let me see if I can find a picture (without disclosing the brand) - I sure don't want to pay any "compensation" to anyone - pun intended.
What shocked me was that they put a picture like this one on the poster. What?!! For real??!! This is a reason to make and advertise that product?
I know that people - men, women and even children - can get a black eye from different situations. However, first one that popped and stuck in my head was Domestic Violence. I asked myself, "Are they expecting that a man who hits his wife or children violently - or even a woman who does that to her husband and children will see the ad in the window and come in to buy a jar or more? Talk about Window Shopping!
I wondered if people will see that cream more as a "Condoning and Cover-up Cream."
Without a doubt I condemn domestic violence in every form and couldn't help but be saddened that a cosmetic brand may be making profits off of it.
If you know anyone who is undergoing domestic violence, please seek out help for them...urgently.
