- "candid: making no attempt to deceive or to soften the truth;
- honest: honest, fair, and upright;
- consistent: not straying from agreed or published principles or policies"*
In other words, you have to be walking daily on the paths of righteousness irrespective of what you see happening around you. You cannot afford to dilute or compromise your faith, thinking that you will accomplish things faster by being crooked i.e. smart in the eyes of the world.
Proverbs 3; 5 - 6 encourages us to "Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths." (Amplified Bible)
God even promises to straighten any crookedness in our way:
Isaiah 40:4 Every valley shall be lifted and filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked and uneven shall be made straight and level, and the rough places a plain. (Amplified Bible)Isaiah 45:2 I will go before you and level the mountains [to make the crooked places straight]; I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut asunder the bars of iron. (Amplified Bible)
When we remain straight (including our sexual orientation), we delight God because His desire is "that we may show ourselves to be blameless and guiltless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish (faultless, unrebukable) in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation [spiritually perverted and perverse], among whom we are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly) in the [dark] world."**

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass. And He will make your uprightness and right standing with God go forth as the light, and your justice and right as [the shining sun of] the noonday." (Amplified Bible)
