Bringing it together

As different as they are, I noticed 2 common qualities between the Lion, Eagle & Lamb/Sheep (there may be more...)

Social status
The first common thing about these creatures is they have a “social network” – they are relatable and in touch with others like them.
Lions are the only cat that live in groups – so in spite of how powerful they are, they recognise the importance of family and friends. As a side comment:  God has placed your family and friends in your life for a purpose; please never think that “you can do without them”. You don’t get much mileage in wishing for another person’s family or friends either…you have who you need to either encourage or challenge you to be who God has planned for you to be.

As part of their social status, Lionesses as the primary hunters in the lion pride work together. They work together and win together. Same principle Gail Evans had in her book: "She wins, you win". Ladies, we get ahead further and faster when we work as a team. This includes praying with and for one another. The Bible encourages us to bear, not broadcast, one another's burdens in Galatians 6 verse 2. Please note: this is NOT a call to a feminist movement.

Sheep are friendly and like to flock. They believe that there is "safety in numbers". The Bible says: "Where no wise guidance is, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." (Prov 11:14*) Can you believe that a man said: “The loneliest woman in the world is a woman without a close woman friend.” (George Santayana - The Life of Reason, 1905-1906) I can testify of the wonderful blessings my 5 -10 female friends have been to me...are you wondering if you're on my list?

Eagles fly with Eagles. The Bible warns us about being unequally yoked - see 2 Corinthians 6:14*: Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make mismated alliances with them or come under a different yoke with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership have right living and right standing with God with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light have fellowship with darkness?

Sight/Vision
Lions are able to see in the dark. So can we...
2 Samuel 22: 29* - For You, O Lord, are my Lamp; the Lord lightens my darkness.
Job 29:3* - ...His lamp shone above and upon my head and by His light I walked through darkness.
The Word of God helps us "see in the dark"
Psalm 119:105* - "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" - He shows us what to do step by step. "For the commandment is a lamp, and the whole teaching [of the law] is light, and reproofs of discipline are the way of life" (Proverbs 6:23*). God's word is not a buffet...we can't pick and choose what to obey.

Eagles have sharp vision
The same applies to us...once we are connected to God Who sees the end from the beginnning and has a clear "vision" for our lives.
Isaiah 46: 10* - Declaring the end and the result from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure and purpose.
Jeremiah 29: 11** - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Lamb/Sheep can see behind them without turning their heads. This is an "easy" one if we keep walking in front of God. He promised: "I [the Lord] will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you." "And your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way; walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left." (Psalm 32:8* & Isaiah 30:21*)

"A powerful combination to ensure success is having the vision of an eagle and the heart of a lion"***; I’ll just add that you need the ears of a sheep too. Then, you’re sure to go places, do things and achieve results never imagined by man.

In closing, I believe that God expects us to be strong like the lion, submissive like a lamb/sheep so we can soar (in the eye of the storm) like the eagle. Even the wisest man that ever lived encouraged us to learn from creatures - see Prov 6: 6-8 & 30: 24 - 31. Let's learn from them...

God bless you.
