P.R.O.S.P.E.R. to prosper...(1)

I don't know about you but I desire to prosper in every area of my life. Recently, God reminded me and a few other people of 7 things we need to do/be in order to prosper and I felt led to share them with you.

Online dictionaries including Google define "Prosper" as "to flourish physically; grow strong and healthy; to be successful or fortunate, especially in financial respects; thrive; flourish."

Looking through the Bible, it is certain that God also wants us to prosper - and this is how to...

Positioned:
Psalm 1: 1-3 says Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example], Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers). But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night. (AMP)

We need to position ourselves in the right relationships if we want to prosper. We also need to position ourselves in the right place mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically.

Proverbs 27:17 - Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend [to show rage or worthy purpose]. (AMPC)

Proverbs 22: 24-25
24 Don’t befriend angry people or associate with hot-tempered people,
25 or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul. (NLT)

1 Corinthians 15:33 - Don’t be deceived, bad company corrupts good character. (CEB)

Proverbs 13:20
If you want to grow in wisdom, spend time with the wise.
Walk with the wicked and you’ll eventually become just like them. (TPT)

Become wise by walking with the wise;
hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces. (MSG)

The people we spend time with has a direct correlation to the things that we think about, do and to who we eventually become.

Matthew 13:22 - “The seed sown among weeds represents the person who receives the message, but all of life’s busy distractions, his divided heart, and his ambition for wealth result in suffocating the kingdom message and prevent him from bearing spiritual fruit. (TPT)

Good seed/Wheat among weeds is doomed for choking and destruction...it cannot prosper.

Righteous: According to Google, it means (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous. In my own words, being righteous is doing what is right in God's sight.

Knowing that God gives us the power to make wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18), it makes sense to do what is right in His sight…He tells us so in Deuteronomy 6:18 – Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight, so that you may prosper and so that you may enter and possess the good land the Lord your God swore to give your fathers, (CSB)

When we delight ourselves in the Lord, He gives us the desires of our heart which are His desire and delight for us.

Psalm 37:4 - Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart. (AMPC)

Psalm 35:27 - But let all my true friends shout for joy, all those who know and love what I do for you. Let them all say, “The Lord is great, and he delights in the prosperity of his servant.” (TPT)

When you do what is good and right in God’s sight…He will do what is best, not just better, for you in your life.

Psalm 23:3 - He refreshes and restores my soul (life); He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. (AMP)

God leads us in the path of righteousness for His name sake…we follow Him in those paths of righteousness for our own sake – it’s for our good to walk in righteousness.

Matthew 6:33
-          So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly. (TPT)
-          But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. (AMP)

Proverbs 13:21
Adversity pursues sinners, But the [consistently] upright will be rewarded with prosperity. (AMP)
Calamity chases the sin-chaser, but prosperity pursues the God-lover. (TPT)
Trouble pursues sinners, but good things reward the righteous. (CEB)

Righteousness is a prerequisite for permanent prosperity.

Obedient:
Isaiah 1:19 - If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the best of the land; (AMP)

Deuteronomy 28:13 - The Lord your God will make you the leader among the nations and not a follower; you will always prosper and never fail if you obey faithfully all his commands that I am giving you today. (GNT)

Isaiah 49:17 - This is what the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says, “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit (benefit), Who leads you in the way that you should go. (AMP)

Isaiah 30:21 (NLT) - Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This
is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.

Obeying God is what gives us access to prosperity
Deuteronomy 5:33
-   Follow the whole instruction the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live, prosper, and have a long life in the land you will possess. (CSB)
-   Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy. (NLT)

It’s the instruction from God you hear and heed to (obey) that leads you to prosperity.
