What's your assignment?

No matter how attractive someone else's assignment may seem, it is not your assignment.

We each have the responsibility of knowing and doing what God has called us to and doing it to the best of our ability - not taking on and doing what He has called others to do. We short change ourselves when we do that. It reminds me of when household chores are assigned and one child takes on another's chores hoping to "escape" from doing theirs. Good parents thank the child for doing what they were not asked to do and reminding them to complete the chore they were asked to do.

God has a unique assignment for each of us that will remain undone if we're doing other people's assignments. No wonder some people feel frustrated that their "work" seems unrewarded.

God rewards us according to our labor irrespective of what others do or don't do.
1 Corinthians 3 :8 - He who plants and he who waters are one [in importance and esteem, working toward the same purpose]; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. (AMP)
Our various assignments in life are all aimed at the same purpose - putting together different pieces so lives are whole. It's like working with others on a complex jigsaw puzzle which life is.

So like Ephesians 6:7-8 says 7 Do your work with enthusiasm [willingly; cheerfully]. Work as if you were serving the Lord, not people. 8 Remember [...knowing] that the Lord will give a reward [or back] to everyone, slave or free, for doing good.

Know and do your assignment...your reward awaits you.

"Don't spend your time doing another person's assignment as you will only be rewarded for doing your own assignment well." ~ 'Leke Kelani
