May my friends [those who want my vindication] sing and shout for joy. May they always say, “Praise the greatness of the LORD, who loves [delights; takes pleasure] to see his servants do well [the peace/prosperity of his servant].” (Expanded Bible)
God indeed delights in our prosperity and desires that we also delight in it and walk in the light – for our own benefit. It is only when we walk in the light (of His Word) that we can delight ourselves in Him and He will give us the desires of our heart (puns intended).
The Bible is replete with verses that support this – below are some (they're not in any order):
Ps 112:1 - Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!) Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who fears (reveres and worships) the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments.*Num 14:8 - If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land flowing with milk and honey.*
Ps 1: -3 - Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].*
Deut 30:8-10 - And you shall return and obey the voice of the Lord and do all His commandments which I command you today. And the Lord your God will make you abundantly prosperous in every work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, of your cattle, of your land, for good; for the Lord will again delight in prospering you, as He took delight in your fathers, If you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with all your being.*
Is 58: 13-14 - If you turn away your foot from [traveling unduly on] the Sabbath, from doing your own pleasure on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a [spiritual] delight, the holy day of the Lord honorable, and honor Him and it, not going your own way or seeking or finding your own pleasure or speaking with your own [idle] words, Then will you delight yourself in the Lord, and I will make you to ride on the high places of the earth, and I will feed you with the heritage [promised for you] of Jacob your father; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.*
Ps 37:4-6, 23 - Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass. And He will make your uprightness and right standing with God go forth as the light, and your justice and right as [the shining sun of] the noonday. The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step].*
A person’s steps are made secure by the LORD when they delight in his way. (Ps 37:23**)
Is 48:17 tells us that:
“This is what the LORD, who saves you [your Redeemer], the Holy One of Israel, says: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to do what is good [what is best; or how to succeed], who leads you in the way you should go.”***
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way that you should go.*Several chapters before tellng us the result, God explains the "first step" to profit in Is 30:21:
“You will hear a voice behind you saying,
“This is the way. Follow it, whether it turns to the right or to the left.”
Wishing you very Happy, prosperous and delightful year ahead...
