Look beyond yourself

One reason to do this?
Ephesians 3:20-21 - 20 Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us; 21 glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus for all generations, forever and always. Amen. (CEB)

It’s not mutual

A few months ago, I bumped into someone I try to connect with from time to time. With each time we catch-up, I’ve always made the first move. In fact the last time, the person said, or more accurately promised, “I’ll look you up the next time I’m in town.” Well, guess what? Yes, of course, the next time the person was in town, I found out...

Don't stop pushing!

Last year, I watched an episode of 'Everybody loves Raymond' that had an unusual twist to it.
If you've ever watched any of the episodes, you'll know that the matriarch Marie has a way - actually many motherly and sometimes manipulative ways of pushing her opinions on everyone else. Well this episode was very different - in this one Raymond thanked his mother for pushing.

You matter

"I have freed myself to put me on the priority list and say, yes, I can make choices that make me happy, and it will ripple and benefit my kids, my husband, and my physical health. That’s hard for women to own; we’re not taught to do that. It’s a lesson that I want to teach my girls so they don’t wait for their "aha" moment until they’re in their 30s like I was (laughs). Maybe they can experience it a little earlier."

Keep sending them...

Isaiah 65:24 - I will answer them before they even call to me.
While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers! (NLT)

Matthew 7:7 - Ask, and you will receive.
Search, and you will find.
Knock, and the door will be opened to you. (CEB)

Living from heart to mouth

Growing up I heard the phrase "Living from hand to mouth." I'm sure you know that it means.....

Well if you didn't already know, it refers to people living in poverty of sorts. In these days, we'd say someone is "living from pay-check to pay-check" ("check" is also correctly spelt as "cheque").

Now that's what obtains in the world however, the Lord expects us to live from "heart to mouth."
To successfully live from "heart to mouth," we must know and monitor what gets into our heart.
In other words, we must "keep and guard our hearts with all vigilance and above all that we guard, for out of it flow the springs of life."*

You're being watched...

...with every movement or lack of movement.

A few weeks ago, I thought about giving myself a gift. Everyone deserves a "gift" now and again.

Well I decided to give myself a gift of not doing any exercise. Reason? Of course there was a reason - and it was because I was celebrating someone's birthday and so felt entitled to a gift. Now the question isn't whether or not I gave the celebrant a gift - that's besides the point at least this time. :) Ok to clear that, I gave the celebrant more than one gift...let's go on.

Stay put...not out

When this common quote: "Go where you're celebrated not tolerated" crossed my mind, the first 2 words in the title "resp...
